Two Contacts Established in other Countries. First, I searched the internet for Early Childhood Professionals in other countries. Secondly, I looked at some of them  as well, but most of the sites had  a contact us. When I  selected contact us it was a general email box that would take at least three to four days to get back to you, plus there were no particular names. Thirdly, I went to Twitter and Facebook and found Asama Malawala on Facebook and Twitter She is an inclusive early childhood educator, Disability advocate, International Ed Policy, Social justice through education in /Dubai/Karachi   .  Asama  replied back immediately, I cannot wait to tweet with her again. My first question was what kind of policies are in place for early childhood education? https://twitter.com/asmamaladwala The second contact I made was with The Early Childhood Professionals in Ireland. Professor Heckman, along with J.B. Pritzker and others, presented on the...

VIDEOS ON LINGUISTIC CULTURAL DIVERSITY

WE MUST HAVE DIVERSITY WITHOUT DIVERSITY WE HAVE LOTS OF PROBLEMS AND NO STABILITY FOR OUR EARLY LEARNERS AND THEIR FAMILIES

MY SUPPORTS!!!!!!!!!!!

MY SUPPORTS! If I were handicapped and in a wheel chair, unable to care for myself normally. I would need the help of my doctors, my family, a home nurse, while my husband worked and lots of friends. My environment would be set-up so that I may be able to get around in my wheel chair as well as walkers, equipment for exercise, therapists coming each day to keep my muscles active, and working them to be strong enough so that I may be able to use my upper body to grasp things, reach up and down, and roll my wheel chair. Without the help of these individuals, I would not be able to eat, cook, go to the bathroom or take care of hygiene needs. I can relate because due to an accident back in 2003. I was not able to walk for several years. I depended solely upon my family, home nurse, and counseling in order to get through it. I know what it is to be disable, not be accepted because of being incapacitated. You would be surprised at how people look at you when you are different. ...

My Connection to Play

Image
Play today is nothing like it used to be I played a lot at the beach as a young five year old we always brought shovels, buckets, cups, bowls and cookies cutter shapes. I was never a water person but loved to listen to sea shells and collect them and put them in plastic bags to take home.  At this time, it was my four year old brother and my three year old brother. We would walk, what seemed like the entire beach we loved playing in the sand, but most of all we built what we thought were cities streets and even made sand cookies with the cookie cutters we brought along. The see shells were used to make all kinds of make believe food. Our dad used to help us build large long castles because he knew how to make everything stand up. All of us took turns going to fill buckets of water, but my three year old brother did not. My Mom and I went to get water first, and then my father and brother took a turn until we had enough water. For many hours we just set on the beach bui...

Relationship Reflections

Relationship Reflections First, I would like to say I am a late bloomer had many mentors, but was never sure what I wanted to do in life. My mother and father have always been my mentors and have always given me phenomenal guidance. Finally, after high school still not knowing what I wanted to do in life. I attended Fordham University in New York City and received a Bachelors in Business Administration. Still, at this time, I was not sure what I wanted to do. One of my professors from college told me about a job at The Head Start Program located in the Bronx. Before I tell you what happen I have to tell you other things that took place.  While  In college I always participated when early learners came to visit the University during field trips or whenever the university had children’s’ day for students that had children. Professor Barbara Lindsey would ask me if would I help with the children, I always said yes. Nevertheless, I became a regular when these events to...
