Relationship Reflections

Relationship Reflections First, I would like to say I am a late bloomer had many mentors, but was never sure what I wanted to do in life. My mother and father have always been my mentors and have always given me phenomenal guidance. Finally, after high school still not knowing what I wanted to do in life. I attended Fordham University in New York City and received a Bachelors in Business Administration. Still, at this time, I was not sure what I wanted to do. One of my professors from college told me about a job at The Head Start Program located in the Bronx. Before I tell you what happen I have to tell you other things that took place.  While  In college I always participated when early learners came to visit the University during field trips or whenever the university had children’s’ day for students that had children. Professor Barbara Lindsey would ask me if would I help with the children, I always said yes. Nevertheless, I became a regular when these events took place.

Encouraging Colleagues When they are down the best comfort ever. Some of us colleagues began this journey together with our first class On Foundations of Child Development and now I have added more colleagues to this journey. Due to having technical difficulty most of these weeks. I have been late with every assignment, but I would not give up because we started together and we will end this journey with a positive and not a negative. You may not have known it, but by Just reading your discussions and blogs have kept me encouraged to keep going. Several times I wanted to throw in the towel, but I didn’t and that is what counts.

Standardized Testing the Whole Child without biased assumptions

Making an allowance for an obligation to observing young children holistically. We as educators, school administrators, and early interventionist must evaluate the whole Child not just pieces of the child. I do believe the child which may have a delay, should be assessed, and evaluated, but sometimes it is a catch 22 because for one thing, the child may not have a delay, but on the other hand, if they do have a delay. It can be caught early in life, and then again being done too early may sometimes be done with biases depending on who is doing the child’s assessment. Furthermore, assessments first need to be done in an environment that is comfortable to the child and many instruments should be used for testing, and several interventionist, teachers and school administrators’ should meet with families a few times before the actual evaluation is completed. In my opinion if we do this we can be sure the child is being evaluated properly and without biased assumptions not all educators

The Consequences of Stress On a Child Develop

Emotional Abuse, Neglect, and violence Emotional abuse is behavior that damages a child’s emotional development or sense of self-esteem. It may consist of pressures, continuous condemnation, as well as withholding love, support, or guidance. Neglect is a pattern of failing to provide for a child’s basic physical and emotional needs. Neglect is a very common type of child abuse, and according to Child Welfare Information Gateway, more children suffer from neglect than from physical and sexual abuse combined. (  (Parenting Should Not Be Hard You deserve Support., 2016) .    As a child growing up my very best friend was exposed to a tremendous amount violence because her parents fought all the time, plus, they were Alcoholics. She was beaten almost every day because her mother was angry at her father, and her father abused her because he was angry at her mother.
