UNICEF ALTERNATIVE ASSIGNMENT
Child poverty
“Integrated child poverty profiling and
analysis
Child poverty is indisputably
multi-dimensional but capturing characteristics of child lack cumulative and
clearly determining what features of monetary poverty and non-monetary deficiencies
have the most effect on well-being is not easy.
UNICEF has directed current innovations in calculating multi-dimensional
deprivation using Bristol University’s method in the Global Study on Child
Poverty and Disparities and Multiple Overlapping Deprivation Examination (MODA”).
Child Poverty
Insights
Child Poverty Insights
(CPI) is a UNICEF online publication for sharing insights, experience and
innovative developments on issues of child poverty, deprivation and inequity.
The series was launched in August 2009, and a variety of topics have been
published which have been well-received by thousands of people in over 150
countries. Each CPI responds to one of
three important areas of child poverty and inequity, namely:
Evidence: where high
quality research results that focus on children’s inequity issues are reported
Think Pieces: where new
approaches to measuring or approaching child poverty and inequity are
introduced
Practice: where
real-world programs are discussed to show examples of ‘best practice’ in
responding to child poverty and inequity.
What is Basic Income
for Children?
Basic Income for Children
(BIC) is a universal income transfer unconditionally granted to all families
with children, without means test or work requirement. At first sight it might
appear far-fetched to introduce a Europe-wide BIC (for EU countries), but
similar schemes already exist in most European countries and might be thought
of as a rather modest extension of current policies. The case for universal
child benefits is twofold. On the other hand, if children to some degree can be
viewed as a public good, shifting some of the costs involved from families with
children to society at large must enhance social welfare (contributing to
horizontal equity). On the other hand, because general child benefits avoid the
gaps in coverage associated with targeted policies, they improve the position
of families at the bottom of the income scale who often fail to take up or are
ineligible for assistance under targeted policies (contributing to vertical
equity).
Gender Equality
I know this has nothing
to do with poverty, but I felt it was very important to post. While browsing
this site I learned that females in Africa and 29 other countries still mutilate
genitals of women and girls or marry off girls before age 15. Nonetheless, this is Otherwise known as FGMC/C. Still, this is a human violation, yet it continues
today. More than 130 million girls and women in 29 countries in Africa and the
Middle East. It is now about 1/3 lower but it is a manifestation of gender and
equality.

mutilation & child marriage – No Time to Lose (UNICEF).

Dr. Davis had to do alternative assignment my three contacts Ireland, Pakistan, and Australia have not hit back. Since I have been ill, I am trying to keep up, so there was no time to keep searching. Will do better next week. I have been sick, but doing my very best to push through the next few weeks. I like to give 100 percent because I am contentious about my performance, some how I am barely making it through. My apologies
