DEC CODE OF ETHICS

In regard to the DEC Code of  Ethics First and for most I will give my all, and respect to any individual or child who has a disability. All of them are very important and will up hold them as an Early Childhood Educators and also train individuals on my staff in regard to children with special needs

1We shall demonstrate the highest standards of personal integrity, truthfulness, and honesty in all our professional activities in order to inspire the trust and confidence of the children and families and of those with whom we work.

This code will be instrumental and significant in my professional life because each and every day, I am involved  or may be involved in situations, such as a child that is possibly delayed in an area or many areas. As an educator I must assess properly with anecdotes, and gather information pertaining to the child's performance. We must always be fair and unbiased and use the appropriate tools in order to assess the child correctly before labeling.  After, I assess and do all that I am trained to do for this child, it is my job to  contact parents. At this time, I show all the child’s work and assessments I have performed during the last six months.
My next step would be giving parents pamphlets on early intervention and explaining, how early intervention can possibly have a solution.  I am also going to be honest about everything I say or do as well as be there for the child and their parents.

2.We shall strive for the highest level of personal and professional competence by seeking and using new evidence based information to improve our practices while also responding openly to the suggestions of others.

As teachers, and caregivers or anyone in the field of child development and early education must always be ready to take on other practices. Researchers are finding evidence daily about how the brain is developing in ways we could never imagine. we must always be open to suggestion or constructive criticism, as we learn more and more about E.C.E. and the development of children. As a practitioner these things will always be significant and constantly in my professional life, this is the reason I continue my education, attend  professional development classes, visit  conferences about Early education all the time.

3. We shall serve as advocates for children with disabilities and their families and for the professionals who serve them by supporting both policy and programmatic decisions that enhance the quality of their lives.

All educators should be advocates for these children and families because these children have the right to be included in all activities that the typical children are offered. Whether an Atypical child can perform the activity or not.  I know this will be significant in my professional life because I am certainly a believer, that children with disabilities be included in classroom or outdoor activities. I know this will be a significant part of my professional life because I am advocate for children with special needs. I can understand if the child cannot perform or the severity of the disability. However having these children take part helps normal children to learn diversity, and see that all us do not perform or look the same.
