Professional Hopes and Goals

       Professional Hopes and Goals

First and foremost, I am a hopeful and optimistic person with the desire to see the world that exists in harmony and stability. The world is more of a global village, and therefore it is our duty and responsibility to maintain peace and stability in the world. Working with children and families from diverse backgrounds is a goal that I am pursuing. In my pursuit of this fundamental aim, I hope that I will make people understand the need of embracing human diversity and receive the necessary support from the respective stakeholders. Though we live in a global village, we all have diverse backgrounds and social identities. Some people are of different races, diverse sexual orientation, and contrastive linguistics among other variations.  However, we as human beings shouldn’t let these variations be our source of conflict and disengagements. We should remember that no matter the differences in our social identities we all belong to the human race which is the paramount consideration.  I hope and endeavor that we as people will embrace each other’s diversity and co-exist harmoniously and stable. Also, I hope to get the necessary support from various stakeholders such as the school, fellow colleagues, and the local authorities in my pursuit of working for the children and families from a diverse background.
As an early childhood professional, I will seek to help in the formulation of stern laws and frameworks that govern diversity, equity, and social justice for children and their families.  Currently, I perceive the existing of legislations as a weakling consisting of loopholes and uncertainties on these issues. For example, these legislations primarily focus on equality rather than focusing on equity. As known, equity moves beyond equality; equity is about fairness and justice. Children and families should be made to understand the basis and rationale of equity in our society; this can only be achieved by having a formidable policy framework. The prospective laws will clearly stipulate and expound on diversity, equity, and social justice in respect to the early childhood field. If these issues are clearly set out in a comprehensive legal framework, people will be obligated and rationally mandated to abide by them. The enactment of these policies and structures will be done with liaison with the necessary government authorities and committees of experts as stipulated by our laws.

  1. Hi Shelia:

This is a great statement that you had posted about your professional hopes and goals. In the days and times that we are in, the entire world is beautiful, but people in this world make it so complicated to live in because of what is said, and how others are treated. I pray that all of the early childhood professionals come together as one and make a world of a difference in children and their family lives behind our goals. Having the motivation and determination that you have written about would be a great start! I wish you much success in your goals and hopefully we will have classes again. Take care and thanks for the inspiring blog post!
